This notice explains how Cader Electrical collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you make an enquiry, request a quotation, instruct work or otherwise contact the business.

Cader Electrical is operated by Carl Derrick as a sole trader. For the purposes of UK data-protection law, Cader Electrical is the data controller for the personal information described in this notice.

2. Information collected

What information may be collected?

The information collected will depend on the enquiry, property and work required. It may include:

  • Your name, address, general location and contact details.
  • Property, premises, access and appointment information.
  • Details of electrical work, faults, concerns or planned improvements.
  • Quotations, invoices, payment details and transaction records.
  • Electrical inspection, testing, reporting and certification records.
  • Messages, emails, voicemail and other customer correspondence.
  • Information provided through WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger or Google.
  • Complaints, queries, feedback and reviews.
  • Photographs or videos of equipment, installations, defects, work in progress and completed work.

Photographs and videos

Photographs may be taken or retained where reasonably required to understand an enquiry, prepare a quotation, document the condition of an installation, record defects, support inspection and testing, demonstrate completed work, meet certification or insurance needs, or resolve a later query.

Suitably anonymised photographs may also be considered for educational or marketing purposes. Where an image could identify a customer, person or property, separate permission will be obtained before it is published.

3. How information is obtained

Where does the information come from?

Information may be collected when you:

  • Telephone, email or message Cader Electrical.
  • Contact the business through WhatsApp, Facebook or Google.
  • Request advice, a visit, quotation or electrical service.
  • Provide photographs, plans, certificates or other documents.
  • Arrange access, make a payment or leave a review.

Information may also be provided by a landlord, letting agent, tenant, property owner, contractor, insurer or another person legitimately involved with the work.

4. How information is used

Why does Cader Electrical use your information?

  • To respond to enquiries and provide initial advice.
  • To understand an electrical job, installation or fault.
  • To arrange appointments, access and customer communication.
  • To prepare quotations, estimates and work specifications.
  • To provide electrical installation, repair or inspection services.
  • To carry out testing, reporting and certification.
  • To obtain suitable materials and coordinate relevant specialists.
  • To communicate findings, progress and recommendations.
  • To issue invoices, record payments and maintain accounts.
  • To deal with guarantees, complaints, queries or disputes.
  • To keep appropriate photographic and technical records.
  • With appropriate permission, to use suitable photographs for educational material or to demonstrate completed work.
  • To meet tax, accounting, insurance, regulatory and legal obligations.
5. Lawful bases

What allows this information to be used?

Contract Information may be needed to respond to a request for a quotation, arrange work and perform an agreed electrical service.
Legal obligation Information may be retained or used to meet tax, accounting, safety, regulatory or other legal requirements.
Legitimate interests Information may be used where reasonably necessary to operate and protect the business, maintain job records, manage enquiries, resolve disputes and defend legal claims.
Consent Consent may be requested for an optional use, including publication of an identifiable photograph. Consent can be withdrawn for future use.
6. Educational and marketing photographs

When is separate photograph permission needed?

Photographs forming part of a quotation, inspection, report, certificate, job record, safety record or evidence of completed work may be retained where reasonably necessary for providing and documenting the service.

Public use is treated separately. Cader Electrical may occasionally ask to use photographs on its website, Google Business Profile, social-media pages or educational material.

Public photograph commitment Names, addresses, paperwork, vehicle registrations and other identifying details will be avoided or removed. Where a person or property could still reasonably be identified, the photograph will not be published without separate permission.

Giving permission is optional and is not a condition of receiving electrical services. Permission may be withdrawn for future use by contacting Cader Electrical.

7. Sharing information

Who may receive your information?

Information will only be shared where reasonably necessary. This may include:

  • Electrical certification and business-management software providers.
  • Email, website-hosting, cloud-storage and communication providers.
  • Accountants, insurers, legal advisers and professional consultants.
  • Wholesalers, manufacturers or specialist contractors where relevant.
  • NAPIT or another competent-person or regulatory body where required.
  • HM Revenue & Customs and other authorities where legally required.
  • Banks, payment providers, emergency services or law enforcement.
  • WhatsApp, Meta, Google and other platforms selected for communication.

Cader Electrical does not sell customer information.

8. International processing

Information processed outside the UK

Some technology and communication providers, including Google, Meta and WhatsApp, may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where personal information is transferred internationally, appropriate safeguards are relied upon where required by UK data-protection law.

9. Retention

How long is information kept?

Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, together with relevant legal, tax, safety, insurance and regulatory requirements.

Quotations and estimates Normally up to 2 years, unless linked to later work.
Customer, invoice, payment and accounting records Normally retained for at least 6 years where required for tax and accounting purposes, and longer where another legal reason applies.
Certificates, inspection records and test results Retained for an appropriate period considering safety, regulation, insurance and the nature of the installation.
Complaints, claims or disputes Until the matter and any relevant legal or insurance period have ended.
Photographs For as long as they reasonably form part of the relevant job, safety, inspection, evidence or permitted marketing record.
10. Security

How is information protected?

Reasonable technical and organisational precautions are used, including:

  • Password-protected devices, applications and accounts.
  • Device security, software updates and access controls.
  • Restricted access to customer and job records.
  • Appropriate use of secure email and business systems.
  • Secure deletion or disposal when records are no longer required.

No electronic system is completely risk-free, but reasonable measures are used to reduce the risk of accidental loss, misuse or unauthorised access.

11. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal information held about you.
  • Ask for inaccurate or incomplete information to be corrected.
  • Ask for information to be deleted in certain circumstances.
  • Ask for the use of information to be restricted.

These rights do not apply in every situation. Information may need to be retained where there is a legal, contractual, safety, regulatory or insurance reason.

13. Website and cookies

Website technologies

The Cader Electrical website does not currently use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or similar optional tracking technologies.

The website or hosting platform may use limited technologies necessary for security, delivery and basic website operation.

If optional analytics, advertising or tracking technologies are introduced in future, this notice will be updated and visitors will be given any consent choices required by law.

Links to other websites and platforms

The website may link to WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Google and other external websites or services. Those organisations operate under their own privacy information and controls.

Cader Electrical is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external platforms.
